There is a light

This is the latest new TV campaign from Hiscox. Directed by Tomas Alfredson of ‘Tinker, Tailer, Solider, Spy’ fame and voiced by actor Benedict Cumberbatch.

Great advert.

Amon Tobin – ISAM ‘Live Visual Experience’

Re-drawing and blurring the lines between psychedelia and sci-fi, between art and entertainment, between sound design and melody, Brazilian electronic musician Amon Tobin released his latest creation ISAM on 23rd May via the independent London-based record label Ninja Tune. The tour that ensues plays host to some incredible set/stage design. The work that has gone into the live shows is testament to Tobin’s passion and vision. Click here to get a feel for “a beautiful combination of physical geometric stage models and interactive video projections”. Tobin and his team get a big thumbs up from Lucid.

The Third & The Seventh

We just can’t get enough of Vimeo here at Lucid you can loose hours on it, it never gets boring and to top it off they have just launched their iPhone app, which means even more viewing pleasure. This piece of film is astonishingly beautiful, the intro is a work of art in itself and what follows after is even more amazing.

This truly is beautiful in every way….. Breathtaking in fact. It makes mankind’s relationship with nature seem truly seamless.

Alex Roman we salute you.

As it says in the Vimeo description ‘Full screen it please’ you will not be disappointed.

VA VA VOOM

Here at Lucid we are fans of the new Renault advert by advertising agency Publicis. It’s rare to find TV adverts that aren’t corny or just plain boring, but this one stands out from the crowd. It features cameo appearances by Thierry Henry, Dita Von Tesse, Rhianna and snap shots of the legendary Marlon Brando and Audrey Hepburn.

With music is by Clare Maguire – Breakage’s Suck It Up Remix featuring samples from David Bowie and Rhianna.

Here’s a behind the scene’s video from Vimeo too….

An Experiment by Román Cortés – Never Gonna Give You Up

Far too often are technical skills taken far too seriously. Román Cortés has decided to showcase his Javascript/Flash competency by creating a light-hearted yet unique algorithm that translates video into text motion. In his experiment, the lyrics of the Rick Astley classic Never Gonna Give You Up are manipulated to form the image of the singer himself, dancing to his song. Click here to view it.

Sound Matrix

So addictive! Click the link below to try it out for yourself. Don’t blame us if you’re sat there wondering what happened to the last hour.

Busy.

Things have been so hectic around here, we’ve unfortunately not made time to post anything for over a month. Rest assured though there is plenty of new and exciting projects to follow in the coming months. From content portals, to affiliate networks, transactional and non transactional i phone apps, to branding and GF Smith business cards, brochures, membership clubs, blog designs, e-commerce sites and much much more.

Say hell to the recession, stay positive, focus and most importantly of all enjoy each day as it comes. In the meantime here is some of the things we have been up to in the last month….

A Magical Place – Blythe Hall

Took a trip down memory lane and visited an old family friends home in Lathom Lancashire, which dates back to the 12th Century. Inspiration in design can come from absolutely anywhere.

A quick stop at Kvadrat

This London located fabric showroom is like stepping into a club, with walls that conceal pull out fabric swatches and a white suspended office above a dark brick lower level. This place is another one of those hidden gem, tar-dis’s that you find all over the place in London.

Well worth a visit, check out www.form-office.net for more information on these great fabrics.

A Poster from the 1950’s

Design definitely knows no barriers where age is concerned and the past as can be seen in the work of Established & Sons earlier, is often one of the greatest areas of inspiration.
